Sweet Potato Bites: Healthy pumpkin smoothie

Many places are offering delicious pumpkin beverages – from pumpkin spice lattes to pumpkin smoothies.  But did you know that Jamba Juice’s pumpkin smash smoothie has 75 grams of sugar, and the “light” version has 50 grams?  The good news is that pumpkin smoothies are incredibly easy to make, and don’t have to be sugar-laden calorie bombs. This homemade healthy pumpkin smoothie contains pumpkin, almond butter, ice, almond milk, maple syrup and spices.  That’s it!  It’s a delicious alternative to a higher calorie drink and you are still getting the health benefits from the pumpkin, which is a win-win. Healthy pumpkin smoothie Makes one smoothie Ingredients 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (be sure to use just canned pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling) 1 cup almond milk 1/4 cup crushed ice 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 tablespoons maple syrup 1 tablespoon smooth almond butter (I’m sure peanut butter would be just as delicious) Directions

  1. Pour all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend until the smoothie is nice and creamy.
  3. Enjoy!
